Monitoring in 3D : editing in 3D
The 3D picture appears directly with the input of the data on the floor plan. Data input errors are also immediately apparent, and so can be corrected immediately. Measurement can also be carried out in 3D view. This method can be useful to, for example, painters, who can use the 3D view to select a preview of a wall they wish to measure.

Calculation formulas : assigned formulas
KutchCAD obtains height and thickness data for components (walls, floors, roofs...) from measurements identified by two clicks of the mouse. This data make possible length, area, volume, and non-dimensional (calculation) sizing, as well. Using the assigned formulas, several types of data can be gained from the same design element : after measuring the walls once, we can set measurements for the necessary ground work, foundation work, utility tunnel, sewer, waterproofing, stucco, heat insulation, painting...

Framework preparation
It can often be necessary to prepare the budget before the final construction permit is issued, in fact, it may even be needed when the outline plans are being made. This required modeling of the roof structure. Thanks to effective parameter setting, KutchCAD automatically draws the elements of the roof structure (rafter, ridge-pole, battening...). Roofs assembled using specific tools can also be edited. The bill of materials and the budget are prepared based on this data.

Building renovation : survey of existing buildings
Plans for old buildings facing renovation are virtually never available. Survey drawings can also be prepared using KutchCAD in connection with the laser distance measurement tool. Using spatial parameters, a 3D view can be generated, making measurement possible to monitor and automate. After saving floor plan and frontal view images in a DXF file, the results of the survey can be input into any other CAD system.

Photogrammetry
KutchCAD also has a function that can create floor plans from spatial images. Using this method, it is possible to carry out the survey based on photographs. It can be very useful in cases in which documentation needs to be prepared for buildings that are very difficult to access or that have very tall facades.

Budget preparation and compatibility
An itemized quantity cost estimate can be prepared if one or more materials-library items are linked to the formulas used during calculation. KutchCAD supplements the budget preparation software found on the market. It accepts input from the libraries of another software, prepares a bill of materials, and prepares the budget in these programs. KutchCAD also prepares budgets in office applications formats: Excel®, Word®, and Project® for the chronological schedule.

Libraries
The user can prepare his own library of materials and work classification codes for the budget in KutchCAD, or can import these from a professional source, such as LGE’s CCTP AO® (computerized construction industry work classification codes for the budget) (for new construction or renovation and for the infrastructure ; 34 main items, more than 5000 pages and nearly 40 000 items).
