CAD and BIM file import and export

Bring your project files into KutchCAD

KutchCAD brings plans from different project participants into a common measurement workflow. Import digital CAD drawings, use PDF or bitmap plans as a reference, and work with supported BIM exchange files.

  • 2D and CAD exchange formats include DWG, DXF, DWF, DWFX, DAE and DGN.
  • Bitmap images and vector PDF files can provide a basis for tracing and measurement.
  • BIM exchange workflows include IFC formats.
  • Other supported exchanges include SVG and image formats such as BMP, JPG and PNG.

Available import and export options vary by format and software version. Ask EDICAD to test your sample files and confirm the workflow you need.

Move from imported plans to quantities

Check units and scale, organise the drawing and associate work items with project elements. KutchCAD can quantify selected objects from plan views or the 3D model.

Photographs of buildings can also be rectified into scaled elevation views. This supports survey work where conventional drawings are incomplete. The source image and reference measurements remain essential to the result.

For construction professionals

Cost consultants and engineering offices can use imported documents to prepare technical and financial studies. General contractors and specialist trades can combine quantities, work descriptions and quotation data, while keeping the project visible in 2D or 3D.

Your questions, answered

Does KutchCAD work with PDF plans?

Yes. PDF plans can be used as part of the drawing and takeoff workflow. Confirm the type of PDF, scale and reference dimensions before measuring.

Can I exchange IFC models?

KutchCAD supports IFC exchange workflows. Share the IFC version and a sample model so EDICAD can confirm the import or export needed for your project.
